I was at BPS this week and seen they had Duckett Rods. I was very surprised by how light they were. Has any one on here fished with them, what are your thoughts?

Doug I know you fish with them and you showed me your flipping/pitching rod with the Ardent F700, I was very impressed with that combo. How well do you like that combo?

You know I have one and I love it. I used it to drop shot on Erie and caught most of my fish on it. That was this year. I was very impressed with the feel and the lightness. The one issue I have with my 7 foot spinning reel is that the cork handle is a little long for my taste. I got the full cork handle and it seems to get hung up on my side on the hook set at times. I've even stuck it in my jacket pocket while working a bait. If it was 2 or 3 inches shorter, it would be perfect.

Eric

since Feb when i first posted this i have had plenty of time to use them and form an opinion. as most know i used to work for a couple of other rod companies and Duckett is by far the best i have used. i have caught tons of fish on the rods and have yet to have any problems with the rod itself. i have noticed what Eric mentioned with the solid cork rod. the handle is longer and seems to get caught in my shirt on hook sets or when working certain baits. i have a split and solid in 7'3" so i just changed up what i was doing with one to the other. overall i am a 100% satisfied about making the switch. doug

Thanks for your opinions. What I am intrested in is finding a pitching rod that is light and well built.

Doug, that rod you use for flipping/pitching what is the model #?

thanks

i use the 7' 6" heavy action SKU: DFMM76H-C and 7' 6" x-heavy action SKU: DFMM76XH-C. the x-heavy has the F-700 and the heavy has the F-500. doug
