Gotta come back on my word here guys. I have been having nightmares with the Vicious Fluorocarbon lines. 8# I am having problems with memory, fraying, and constant breakage above the knot. The Fraying is all up and down the line for several yards. This is being used in open water situations with no contact with debris, rocks, weeds, Nothing. I checked the guides of the rod, the spool for nicks and the roller on the bail and nothing is showing any indication of a problem. The line is checked between fish and no sign of stress or teeth. I lost 2 lures to breaking above the knot after the cast and the memory is terrible. This line has been spooled for 4 weeks. I have tried line and lure conditioner and it is having no affect on correcting my memory problem. 10# Is high memory and some fraying going on. i have since removed it from my reels and gone back to my stand by. Too bad. It is very affordable but I don' think it holds up as well as my stand by.

Cannot say that I have had any of those problems. Use the flouro on a lot of my reels. Do your reels/line left in changing temps? Left in your garage or boat/truck. Just asking cause sometimes it is an oversight that will affect your line with the heat, humidity and things of that nature. I have no relationship with vicious just trying to help out here. It is a great line and priced just right. Good Luck!

couple things come to mind with how you explain it. first is the breaking above the knot. that could be a result of the knot your using. a polymer knot is what i am going to guess you are using. if that is the case it is not the best choice for any brand of fluorocarbon. the memory issue i am not sure about. i have two spinning reels that have 6lb and 8lb fluorocarbon on them. i lined both of them up in Feb or March and just used the one fishing a drop shot with Jason on tuesday. i have not used them a whole lot this year so i have not changed line on them. i have not had any memory issue with either. the fray issue has me kind of stumped as well. is/was the line on a baitcaster? had you back lashed them very much? i know there was an issue with some fray problems when it first came out but that was a couple years ago and that problem has been resolved. wondering if the place you got may have had some old stock??? doug

Rods are removed from the boat when i get home. line is on both baitcasters and spinning reels. Spinning reels are where the problems occur. Yes I am using a Palomar knot. Thanks for the info Doug. The baitcasters are so far doing good. Using the spinning rigs for suspending jerk baits. No back lashes with the baitcasters. In fact the baitcaster with Fluoro is doing well and I use a Palomar knot and have no line breakage. I'm stumped. I still have a couple of spools of Vicious left. Give me a knot that works well with the fluorocarbon. A Palomar is the strongest knot and I prefer it over all knots I have ever used.

I can only tell you what I use Jere, and that's an improved trilene knot. I tie the know the same way as usual, but I pass the tag end through the loop twice after I've twisted it 6 or 7 times. It seems to work for me.

I know a lot of guys like Jason Quinn use a San Diego Jam knot, which I think is similar to what I use. I found it online once. He uses it specificlly for fluorocarbon.

I had same promblems last year that you described and swore I would never use it again!!!!!! Then I came across a deal on a bunch of it cheap and is the best line I have ever used so far. There is a chance you might have a bad batch of it! IMO I am still looking for the perfect line though too.

i know why it is fraying......jerkbaits. i have had the same issue with jerkbaits while using them on a spinning rod. i think it is the quick popping action that just wears the line. i started using my crankin rod for jerkbait(which i found that i like better) and have not had the same problem. i think it is due to the softer tip and doesnt cause as much stress on the line not 100% sure but its my best guess. i use the same knot as Eric with all fluorocarbon. doug
